The east Bohemian town of Litomyšl was founded in the thirteenth century. This traditional cultural center is known for its architectural monuments, including a Renaissance castle and a square surrounded by Renaissance and baroque houses. It is the birthplace of composer B. Smetana and astronomer Z. Kopal.
